    well, thanks to you guys i'm basically ready to reformat, and I haven't even gotten my laptop yet! I just have a few more questions. First off, I don't really understand this statement on southern girls guide:
    Do I install the drivers in that order if I downloaded all the drivers from dell's site?

    It's not too important which order you download and install your drivers in. However, if you want to get online to get the drivers, you will already need to have your ethernet drivers installed, which means you may want to put them on a usb drive or cd before you format, so you can install that first.

    If you have them downloaded already and on a CD or flash drive, then you're good to go. SGs order was just for those that may have ONLY downloaded the driver for the ethernet card and were planning to download the rest directly from the laptop....

    question, after reinstallation which one do I install first? Notebook System Software or Chipset driver?

    Install the notebook system software first. Follow the order given in SG's guide.
