    Nope, a 256mb ATI X1400

And the new inspirons only have integrated graphics card which is NOT equal to my original card so they will need to upgrade me i think

i'm surprised they gave me such a huge boost in RAM from 1 gig of 533mhz to 3 gigs of 667. I'm assuming this is a refurb they pulled off their outlet store?

Yeah Congratulation Viper!!!! You shouldve seen my reaction when I received my replacement. When I received the box I thought there was a 1525 inside. No one at Dell mentioned anything about getting a XPS model. When I saw the XPS accessories box I freak out. I had to check the box to make sure it had my name on it.

    Hey Viper,

Glad to hear that things have worked out the way you wanted it. Good luck with a new system. And regarding your query abou the RAM, you got a nice bump up because the system was pulled from the outlet, and these specs were probably the ones that matched your original config the best. What I always get a chuckle out of is the fact that the 3GB of RAM actually costs 975 dollars or something ridiculous like that lol...

And yeah I was a little surprised to see that seeing from newegg 3 gigs would cost about 60 bucks! in my order history for this replacement it says it was 2017 or something like that... and half of that is just the ram lol

That's why you need a keyboard protector to protect your laptop from spills.

I once spilled water onto my roommate's laptop ...

You can still get complete care. You would need to call Dell and you will have to purchase it with a pro-rated value. If you are outside your 21 days, you may have to pay a small premium for the complete care.

small correction if you go to the dell website login to where your system is listed under your account. click on the comptuer service tag. then choose warranty service they will let you purchase extra warranty and/or complete care. you pay a hefty premium for note getting it when you placed your order but its well worth it. Please note that you will not get the option to extend warrnty if your current one expired.

I just got my XPS M1530! It has a core 2 duo 2.0ghz, 3 gigs ram, 200 gig hd, 256mb 8600m gt, LG 1440x900 LCD screen.

They also sent back my old hard drive. Does that mean it's still functional??

Also i'm still trying to figure out what that "mirror" comment means!!

there is a upgrade firmware that should fix that issue you are having viper786. You are probably on a07 and there is a a08. Even with the latest ao8 the mouse pad still sucks on my m1530.

Ok thank you, I do have the A07 and I will upgrade to the A08 when i get home.

One other thing, I put in Malcolm X retail DVD in here just to see how the quality of this screen and everything is and one thing i noticed was the volume was VERY low even when I had it at the highest setting on both WMP and in Vista. Is this a common issue??

DVD's dont tend to have that much compression applied to the audio - not data compression, audio compression. A CD for example will be compressed heavily so there is not very much difference in volume between the loudest and quietest bits of a track. DVD audio usually has a greater dynamic range (said diference in volume) for dramatic effect so its normal for the audio on a DVD seem quieter. Try it with an audio CD and if it's louder then thats to be expected.

Keyboard is easy to remove - check out the online service manual for details. Take it off and check for any cables or screws protruding more than they should.

Well, I was just chatting with XPS support, and they want me to send it back to the repair depot. This laptop seems to have a lot of problems.

"Hi, I just had my laptop replaced and I received an XPS 1530 as a replacement and it seems to have some problems with it. First of all, there is a big bulge in the middle of the keyboard. Secondly, even when I have my volume at it's max, it's not as high as it should be. And finally, when I close the lid of my laptop and open it back up and try to use the mouse, the cursor either doesn't move the way it's supposed to (going along with my finger), or it flies all over the screen for about 10 seconds then it works fine after that. and also the strip where thepower button and volume control buttons are, that is uneven as well. It seems to sink down a little above the F3 and F4 key"

and after various questions, "I am really sorry about the experience you had so far, in order to resolve the issue completely, I would create a depot dispatch for this system and then get it resolved."

to which i replied "Can't you have a technician come out to my house? because it is nearing my final exams time and I can't be out of a laptop"

"Because, we would have to do multiple replacement for these issues and it would not be 100% fix, since we would need to completely check with the system."

I asked him not to send the return kit yet and that I'll contact them after my exams, but you'd think that they wouldn't send u a defective replacement. I'll do the keyboard myself, but the mouse is really annoying me. Bios update did not fix it. Also i'm pretty sure my speakers are bad. I have to go to 50-60% volume just to barely be able to hear it. On my 1505 it would be at that volume around 10-15%
