Since my initial membership at this site, I've been looking for a laptop for college. I think I'm finally going to make the purchase.![]()
EDIT:
Well, I just placed my order![]()
config:
m1330
2ghz
LCD screen (don't want LED)
1gb ram (upgrade later)
160gb hdd (5200rpm)
nvidia geforce 8400
Intel Wireless N
6 cell + 9 cell battery
fingerprint reader
Price:
1250$ included tax (300$ off + 50+$ off from College)
+ 200$ gift card
free shipping
Questions:
Is there anything I should know about the m1330? build, specific parts I chose to upgrade...
Is it possible to make the gift card just a deduction from the actual price?
Do you guys know about the extended warrenty from citibank?
Thanks a bunch.

well the early versions had alot of problems manly because they where rush jobs and everyone wanted one dell could not keep up with demand. I pretty sure they are okay now. There was one on this forum was bent in half when it came to the buyers door.

o wow, it seems like you knew one of the questions I had in the back of my mind without me even asking it directly. lol
Thanks for the reassurance mac man -
Just don't be surprised if you have to exchange your first one. They're still shipping faulty M1330s because my 5th one arrived yesterday and it's going back on Monday due to a broke piece of plastic. If lucky number six has any problems at all i'm just going to ask for a refund.
Thanks,
Andrew -

yeesh. Well I hope you get your perfect m1330 doubleohwhatever. I wish everyone could lol

is there a reason you are not going for the LED screen? its brighter, lighter and slightly thinner than the LCD and its worth every dollar spent on it.
unless you have a wireless N router, i wouldnt bother because its a draft and there is no way to guarantee it will be compliant when it is finalised.
also you must make sure you upgrade the 1gb immediately if you want to run vista - minimum i recommend is 2gb but 4gb is not as outrageous as one might think these days. i use about 2.5gb of RAM on average. -

My original budget for a laptop was around 1k. I've already surpassed it, I don't think adding 300$ would help. I already decided not to get the LED.
wireless n is backwards compatable though right? I have to somehow get the payment up to 1500$ to get the 300 discount.
Thanks for your opinion though khull -
Makes sense I think you have no choice but to buy the Dell M1330. What screen size do you want? 13" or can you go up to 14"?

I'm pretty much set on getting the m1330. I've wanted a 13" laptop,

I was thinking you could also get the Sony SZ. I think there was a $200 dolar sale. Dunno now.

the m1330 at this config and price fit right in my budget. Most other 13" are realy exptensive except the Toshiba U305.
Thanks for the suggestion though -
Well between those 2 options I think the dell well be much better.
