    I'm probably just paranoid, but...

So the other day I got a PM from "Dell C.A." asking me to e-mail them regarding the status of my order that was cancelled and then re-ordered. I posted about it on here because it potentially would cause a problem for me, since I have to leave for college three days before the new order is set to ship.

The problem I'm having is that anyone could have made the screen name "Dell C.A.," and because they asked for my order number, I'm afraid of that somehow allowing someone "phishing" to get information I don't want them to have.

Is "Dell C.A." legit, and is there any harm in just giving someone my order number anyway?

well i dont think that was actually dell, but then again, i dont know what you could really do with someones order number. because dell is supposed to ask for information before allowing to make changes to any accountn

simply call dell and find out if there were any changes and make them aware of the situation

Dell will NEVER speak to its customers outside the means of email and phone calls.

    Dell C.A is not legit.

I didn't e-mail them, or anything. I just wanted to see if anyone around here knew anything more than I did.

Edit: And I guess that answers it. Thanks guys.

Well, no one can tell you what to do and you can make your own decisions...but...

Looking around other blogs, several others have responses from Dell C.A. (in which C.A. stands for Customer Advocate). They may have asked you to e-mail them, but look at the e-mail address. It's [email protected] - yes, DELL.COM ;)

Regardless of if it's a legit address, if you e-mail that it was no choice but to go to the Corporate Dell E-Mail Servers...and if there is no address, will bounce back an error. IMO, you have nothing to lose...

I received a PM from this guy a few days ago too regarding my grainy screen...he gave me the same email address. I did some googling..and found that he most likely from the customer advocate group Dell setup to interact with the online community. You can find out more about this group at Dell2Direct.com..I believe that is the name of the site.
