Okay, this is my question I need help with: My power port on the motherboard stopped working correctly and i've been having problems with it I'm at the point where I've bought a new battery and several wall chargers in order to fix the problem. I was about to buy a new motherboard but have seen that you can buy the individual replacement foxconn power ports that solder on the motherboard; the problem I have is that I can't remember what the port looked like when it was new so I'm apprehensive if I should buy the advertised components. My inspiron's power port looks just like wires and its possible that a plastic part in the middle may have fallen off over time and I can't remember that i was there because I was also having problems with the wall chargers fitting right because MY power port on the laptop looks like golden rods and has no cover like the ones i'm seeing online for sale. Could someone with a inspiron 6400 take a picture for me and let me see what their power port looks like please? Heres what mine looks like:

The ones that are replacement have all of the prongs enclosed in a black shell, they look like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/DC-Power-Jack-Dell-Inspiron-5150-5160-6000-6400-1420_W0QQitemZ300268536457QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item45e9664289&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14. I'm thinking mine is exposed but I dont have any other 6400 to reference to mine. Can someone please let me know?

    Has anyone attempted this?
