Alright, just got my 1420, and I'm about to do a clean Vista install. From what I've read, there'll be an option to leave a partition for MediaDirect, so that's what I'm going to do, but my question right now is about drivers. Is it as simple as going through the Vista media, and then installing the drivers from the CD like a program, or something? Is there anything I'd need that's not on the disk, or a better version of any of the drivers out now?

I just wanted to check, because I've heard horror stories about Dell and drivers...

You get the drivers from dell. Go to the support site, enter your machine and there are all the drivers you will need.

Alright, just making sure. I won't need a driver for the ethernet port to get online in the first place or anything, will I?

To be on the safe side, download all the drivers before hand and stick em on either a flash drive or a cd. That way, once ur done reformatting and installing the OS, you can just install all the drivers directly instead of downloading and installing them as you go.

Doesn't the dell come with a drivers cd? I haven't gotten mine yet but from one review I do remember seeing a drivers cd.

It does come with a drivers cd, but there are probably more up-to-date ones out there.
