I am having problems with my new Inspiron 1520. First of all, the screen resolution keeps automatically resetting everytime it wakes up from sleep mode. Secondly, I am hearing the awful ringing, crackling noise from the headphone jack. I am on my replacement system, and the same problems are persisting. I have been referred to the escalation department, hopefully someone there will be able to help me. Even more frustrating- when I requested a transfer cable, they told me no, that I should just swap out the hard drives. Well, wouldn't you know I stripped a screw when trying to pull the hard drive out of the old system? So I had to transfer everything by 1GB flash drive. And now it's pulling the same old problems. Ugh!
Any advice from anyone out there possibly experiencing the same problems?

The hissing is a common issue. So far I have not see anyone with a concrete fix. -

Right-click your desktop. It should be in the menu that appears.
