Hey all,
I finally decided to go with I6400. I am in Canada and purchasing from dell.ca. So all prices are in CAD. Here is what I have in my conf:
Processor - Intel® Core Duo processor T2400 (2MB Cache/1.83GHz/667MHz FSB)
Operating System Genuine Windows® XP Home
LCD Panel 15.4 inch Wide Screen XGA Display with TrueLife
Memory 1GB DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz, 2 Dimm
Video Card 256MB ATI MOBILITY RADEON® X1400 HyperMemory
Hard Drive 80GB Hard Drive
Network Card and Modem Integrated 10/100 Network Card and Modem
CD/DVD Burner 8X CD/DVD Burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability
Wireless Networking Cards Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 802.11a/g Mini Card (54Mbps)
Primary Battery 80 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery
Carrying Cases Dell Nylon Deluxe Carrying Case
Hardware Support Services 3 Yr Return to Depot Service with 3 Yr Tech Support
All this comes to 1419+tax = 1631 CAD ~= 1420 USD
My greatest concern is the harddrive, which has a 2mb buffer.
The 100gb harddrive has 8mb buffer. But both are 5400 rpm. So I am
not sure if there is really a difference.
Do you recommend the nylon carrying case or the backpack?
Also, overall is this a good deal? Do you recommend waiting more? Can I
expect to buy the same system for less in 1-2 weeks?
All comments are appreaciated. I have a very tight budget and I really want
every cent I spend to be worth it.

Nice setup. Well the RAM will lower the price...you can get an upgrade aftermarket for cheaper than what you will pay at Dell. Samething goes for the HDD.
I don't think the price will drop much in the next 2 weeks, unless they offer a deal. I would buy a case aftermarket, make sure it is one that you like...and are better quality.
Hope this helps. -
The 8MB cache will offer a little better performance. You certainly could upgrade it later if you felt performance was not up to par. I personally use a backpack, but I carry a lot of other junk as well.

case. I have an option to choose a backpack or a nylon carrying case inside
the deal.
The only parts I upgraded are the screen, video card, battery and the warranty. -
Is it comfortable? I feel like carrying such a wide and heavy thing in my
backpack wouldn't be comfortable. -

Well in that case it is a good deal. Congrats on the find. I personally went with the use the carrying case. The backpack for the laptop should have cushions in the backpack so you won't feel it.
I6400 Buying soon, need comments...
