Hi I am considering the Dell Inspiron 6400. I was wondering what the overall build quality is and I am especially looking for people who have had it for a few months (>5) to a year.
I am looking for long term reliability.

Most of the reviews talk about build quality. I think the general consensus is that the quality is not the best (plastic, creaks here and there) but will suffice specially if you handle your laptops a bit more on the tender side. If you want durability though, you may want to look into the Dell Latitudes (magnesium casing) or the Lenovo Thinkpads (magnesium roll cage). Of course, they cost more. Good luck. -
I have had the 6400/e1505 since August of 2006, so I'm almost up to a year. It is very well built, and is very easy to upgrade ram(thats the only thing I've upgraded since I bought it). It has a big screen, resolution 1280X800, and "Media buttons" on the front for, well, media.
