This is 3rd exchange for me and the other 9300's booted up in a second without a flicker It happens both turned on and off. What's the flickering about besides what I think it is,a loose connection in the backlight/diplay. Definitely the display . Anyone know [?][?][?]

does the screen flicker completely off and on? or does it flicker in different levels of brightness?

Do colors change as it flickers?

It seems to me that if you hear electrical poping (arcing) you should be on to number 4.

It does sound like a hardware issue to me, as I've subjected my poor 9300 to all sorts of torture since I got it a few months back... Never did I once encounter this issue that you are describing. I did, however, choose not to use Dell's bloatwares and did a fresh reformat. I did use Dell drivers as downloaded from their website, but my graphics driver I downloaded from video2go.com.

If you want to be 100% certain that it's a hardware issue, reformat and reinstall the drivers, else probably easier to send it back and ask for compensation... that's what I'd do if I got 3 lemons in a row... [ :D]

    cheers,

    yass

there was nothing wrong with Vegas' advice. All he did is simply direct you to a website that walked you through it. Reinstalling the drivers as Vegas stated is a normal thing. It does not have to be done after an install. Infact you should be updating drivers every so often anyway. My guess would be either Dell's website promted you to do something wrong or you did not follow directions.

But anyway, my advice would be to:
    #1: Install video drivers correctly
If problem with LCD panel still exists
#2: Call Dell, it sounds like a hardware issue.

But, i would make sure youhave the correct divers installed and installed correctly.

Thank-you EricM, I was just about to say the same thing [ :D]

Since she has so many problems with this one, I think it just needs to be sent back to Dell (again) or have a tech come out and look at it (i really don't think it would take him long to fix it).

It doesn't sound like a major problem where Dell would have to keep it and send you a new one, but its not something that a forum can fix either.

If you think I'm sitting on the phone with dell to fix this out of hand problem. the answer is no. <hr height='1' noshade id='quote'></font id='quote'></blockquote id='quote'>

your crazy if you keep this one I would call them back and demand either your money back or a new unit be shiped to your house.

waiting on the phone sucks but you deserve what you paid for and for me they have been very cooperative. They have sent me out two new HD because the one that came with it didnt have the ability to go back to factory state (Ctrl-F11) and the second was just to noisy it kept ticking every time the HD was accessed.

If I had your problems I would deff. send it back and be sturn and ask for some free upgrades for all your troubles they will cave in because they dont want to lose the sale.
