would the I9300 play better at true bright wuxga or wxga, any thoughts, will the glossyness make a visual difference with the color saturation, or will the matteness of the dull wxga affect.

I would go to a local best buy or computer store and look at the different screens there. Chances are that if you like the glossy screen on other notebooks, you probably would enjoy the truelife screen.
IMO, i would go with the wuxga. I have the wxga, and the colors are very dull. Even looking at this site, its not a normal white...its very dull, almost like it is off color. -
I've heard WUXGA owners complain about their whites even more! I've also read if you select the highest GPU then Nvidia has a better LCD color tuner...
In general gamers do seem to like the glossy WUXGA however even if they may have to squint & hide from reflective lights while a few mention better FPS with the lower WXGA+ res.
Definitely agree about going down to Bestbuy/big pc store to see if you like WUXGA+gloss. Seems to be a love/hate thing or a rather polarizing. I personally just don't think glossy glare belongs on a notebook & there is a long history of anti-glare coats/filters for screens but it is the latest craze as it looks more like a traditional TV screen. I like my windows too much during the day & I'm not about to close all the blinds/curtains !
Good luck! -
Okay, the WUXGA is reflective, but in the highest brightness, the reflections are minimal, allthough admittedly, there will be a very tight sweet spot in brightly lit areas. However, the florescent lights do not really reflect on my WUXGA screen though.
The biggest effect on gaming of the WUXGA screen is the high res of it. However, i do not notice the "blur effect" as much in games as long as it is a widescreen res. But if you really really need to play in native res, then the 6800 will very soon begin to strugle in the 1920x1200 native res.
There will be light leakage though, but it is only an annoyance and does not affect the way the screens look. -
wait will the light leakage be more noticable on either of the screens, or more on one than the other.

You will have incredibly better performance running at a WXGA+ resolution vs. a WUXGA resolution in 3D applications.
As posted, I would see a high-resolution display such as that in person before you buy. -
I play WoW using most of the higher settings at 1920x1200 and get around 60fps with my Nvidia6800 with 2gig ram.
Truelife looks fantastic playing it.
I tried to play some Dark&Light but the servers are always down so no go yet. -

I have all the settings on WoW all the way up and get over 65FPS with 1440x900 resolution. I love this card and lappy!!!

I personaly prefer my WXGA for gaming, play F.E.A.R., HL2, BF2 etc. and love it

the WXGA screen will be able to play present and future games with better FPS, but the WUXGA w/truelife will display a much clearer and vibrant picture. I have the WUXGA screen and i can run many of the games i play at native res. this will not be true for future games because they will demand more graphics power and the GF 6800 will not be able to produce playable FPS at 1920x1200. if you want the high resolution you will have to compromise by taking the screen out of native with future games. unless you are buying a 9300 only for gaming measure the pros and cons of the two screens running windows. i personnly cant imagine using any resolution lower than 1920x1200 agian for normal browsing.

And what about non native resolutions? I mean in the future when u wont be able to play X game at 1920x1200 how does it looks?

Since LCD displays have a certain 'grid' where the pixels are supposed to go, anything other than the native resolution wil be stretched over the grid, and will be blurry and possibly distorted, depends on the resolution.
-
1680x1050 looks fine in all my games (all Steam games) and looks great in Windows. I dont know how you would classify blurry and distorted but I can't tell a difference. That is in my opinion.

ccbr01,
The change in resolution is almost nothing...10-15%. If you drop it any sugnificant amount you will see distortion. I seen it in Fear when I go 1024x768, but not very noticable. My native is 1440x900, so that is a little bigger change and it is streched because of the aspect ratio. -
I understand that concept but many people think that they can only run at 1920x1200. I'm just saying that 1680x1050 is a 800x600 in ratio to 1024x768 and 1920x1200.

1680x1050 looks the best for the non native resolutions, but it is still very distorted and blurry in my opinion. if the game lets you run in windowed mode that is a compromise to keep native resolution, but you will sacrifice the full screen.

i play cs:s and hl2. It seems to be fine in those conditions

thanks in advanced!!
