    I9400 and the GTX

    Is it really possible to put a GTX into a i9400?? I spoke to a dell guy via chat, he said it was possible....

    Well, I suppose it is. Being technically the card is the "same" it should slip right in. Like the 6800, people replaced them with the 6800ultra. So yes, tis possible I suppose. But I would assume it would void your warranty though.

    No, bios shouldn't be able to read the card. That is why you couldn't put the 7800gtx in the i9300.

    cant you just flash the BIOS somehow?

    People put the 7800GTX in the i9300. I read that on notebook forums.

    you have to have a hacked bios. Someone has hacked the xps bios, so you can put the 7800gtx in a i9300. But the i9400 is so new that no one has hacked it. It will be done though.

    Yeah, thats what I meant lol. They had to flash the XPS bios on theres to get it to work.

    Flashing the XPS bios onto the E1705/9400 would most likely be impossible since the E1705 is running the Napa chipset vs Sonoma so likely completely incompatible. Whereas the XPS to 9300 is carbon copy.

    I'm sure someone down the line will make a workaround, or maybe dell actually has support for the 7800 GTX Go already in the 9400/E1705 board. Its possible since the board is suppose to be able to handle the Quadro 4500? which is just a 7800 GTX basically.
