    Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron 5150 with a inbuilt Dell TrueMobile 1400 Dual Band 802.11a/b/g 54Mbps Mini-PCI Wireless Card. The problem i am facing is trying to figure out how to use this wifi card. i installed the driver for this card from the original driver CD pack but when i go to Device Manager i could not find anything that detects the wireless network in the surrounding. Do we need another software to actually use this card and detect the wireless network around.

    Also,

Navigating to Start>All Programs>Dell TrueMobile is giving 'No Adapter' message.

Kindly reply to help me use wireless broadband over inspiron 5150.

    Thanks

Windows XP is capable of managing wireless connections, so, at minimum, all you really need is the drivers for the video card.

Maybe try the drivers from the Dell website in the support section under downloads.

There are 2 major components to your wireless. The drivers and XPs WZC (Wireless Zero Configuration). In the device manager look under network adapters. Check to make sure the drivers are installed for the card. Then go to start> run> service.msc. Make sure the WZC service is started. XP should have an icon in the System Tray (by the clock). Click on it and you will have the option to select network.

    hi booger,

thanks for your response. i checked WZC in services and it is up and running. Even the driver is installed. Now the question arises how to check if laptop is able to detect the wireless network around. Do we use any application for this purpose or there is some feature in driver itself that detects the wireless network.

    Thanks

Usually the wireless icon shows up in the system tray. Double click it and a manager window pops up with available networks in it.

You can also go to MY NETWORK PLACE then click on NETWORK CONNECTIONS you should see a icon reading wireless network connection (double click on it)

    Thanks for the replies

Is there a way in which i could actually check whether the laptop has the wireless card. It looks like there is a fundamental problem as after installing the driver it is not appearing in the Device manager list.
