    INspiron 8600 problems with USB and XP PRO HELP!

    HI in put xp pro on my machine it had xp home on it and now the USB ports quit working.... they show as working fine in device manager... not sure why or what to do... they stopped working after service pack one.. and now i restored to before the service pack and the computer take forever to load etc... just running like garbage.... Anyone konw what the heck is going on?

    when u went into device manager did you check the pwoer management? they might be turning off to conserve power.. mine use to do that on my old IBM, and they wouldnt work until i made it so they wouldnt be shut off to conserve power
