I am planning to buy a new notebook. Still not decided on the one I need (~500 GBP).

When I configure the notebook on Dell website, I don't get to know of the I/O ports that are avaialalbe with different models.

I am particulary interested in knowing if VOSTRO and INSPIRON range support any (or all) or Infrared, FireWire, HDMI (in/out).

Any pointers will be highly appreciated.

Depends which exact model but -

Firewire - yup via the Ricoh chipset.
HDMI - Nope on the majority.
Infrared - Only consumer receive to be used with the remote, no IR transfer.
