Hi guys, I've recently replaced a 3/4 year old dell and would like some ideas on what to do with it...

It's not that bad a system, just don't know what to do with it right now. I've given it a fresh format and everything is running fine (other than the battery which doesn't work any more, but easily replaceable).

    Specs -
    Dell Inspiron 6000
    Intel Pentium M 1.86
    1024MB RAM
    60GB Hard Drive
    Mobility Radeon x300 128MB (1680 x 1050)
    Windows XP Pro
    plus all the basics...

only thing I can think of is to sell it which I don't really want to do since I don't think I would fetch that much for it...

yea its a very nice system. donate it? or any relatives have kids that might need a laptop?

you can also try installing linux on it just to test out linux and learn it. thats what im doing with my inspiron 8200 now. after im done playing with linux i'll probably slap XP back on it and give it to a friend who needs a new computer for office+web

Haha, I also got Studio 14z to replace my Inspiron 8600. I will install the original XP Home and give it to my parents.

I'm also interested in ideas as I'm about to spring for a Studio 15 to replace my 4.5 year old Inspiron 6000. This thing has held up amazingly well.

I gave my Inspiron 6000d to my sister when I got my Studio 17. She proceeded to destroy it, like she destroyed her B130 before it.

I wish I still had it even though I wouldn't use it for anything.

I've still got my old Dell Latitude C610. 1GHz Pentium IIIm, 256MB RAM, 20GB HDD, Windows 2000 and an ATI Mobility Radeon of some description, it won't specify. It's got a lovely matte 1024x768 display. I'm mulling over ideas for what to do with it. I'll probably throw Linux on it and just muck around with that. No-one I know wants it because it's so slow, although a reformat would probably help that a lot.

The original Unreal Tournament runs a treat on it, though. ;)

    Linux! Or sell it.
