I don't know if I'm not looking closely enough or what but all the good deals for dell seem to be in the states. I know some friends in the states and I was wondering if I buy a laptop there and have them bring it over, will I get support from Dell (Canada)? If i get a samsung screen or if some hinge is broken or keyboard misaligned or whatever, will I be able to call dell and tell them to send someone to replace/fix it?

If you get an international warranty you will, but I doubt you will be able to be picky on parts, just if it is actually faulty.

Yes and no is the true answer.
First, the only way you can get warranty service done, in this case, is if you do an international tag transfer to reflect the address change.
Along with this, the only warranty that can be transferred is the 3Yr Next business day warranty. Any other, including complete care, will not be covered.
So...lets say you got the right warranty and then you did the proper transfer....and required warranty work done. Now, its entirely possible that they will scrutinize your case to ensure you didn't buy in the US just to bring it to canada and save money. I know of at least two who found this out the hard way.
Hope this helps... -
Good things happen to honest people
I would buy it in the country i live in.

yes i did get a grainy samsung and the space bar sticks ups like its not put in properly, i talked to xps support he was from canada, he wanted to exchange my system and build me a a new 1, given i was in the 21 days, i told him i will call back if i wanna do that as i wanted to check to see if customer service could upgrade my computer with a better processor and i pay the difference ofcourse. it turns out customer service cant do that.. so i called tech support back and i got this lady from india or philipines not sure.. and she said the only way to fix it was to send it back to the depot and wait a week for it till they fix it and send it back instead of what setting up a system exchange, im really pissed off the computer wasnt built right and they wont even give me a new. i bought 3 dells and never had to call, i think this will be my last.
edit : called customer service they will send me a system exchange. -
Thanks for all your replies, I guess I'll have to buy from Canada and hope for the best then.
