If my ESD is the day after memorial day do I have a chance in hell of it shipping?

My gut says no but I figured I'd ask around lol.

Depends on your setup and current stage. Mine's also supposed to be tomorrow, but I'm certain it'll get delayed.

 

Mine is supposed to ship on 5/28. I emailed them this morning, and they told me the 6 cell battery is still on backorder, and it might take even longer.

 

lol. I thought that was pretty funny.

 

Unless you were already in Boxing, I'd say no.

 

I dunno. 5/28 is my ESD too and I went to Boxing today...with a 6-cell battery. I've heard the 7200 RPM drives sometimes cause delays too.

The bad thing is that I believe Dell doesn't hold parts for you. So you might be waiting on one part for two weeks, and when it finally comes in there will be a completely different part on backorder. They've all got to be available at the same time. A Perfect Storm, if you will.

I don't know if that's entirely true, but it would exxplain why some guys get stuck for a month or more. They probably keep waiting on different parts.

 

Something isn't right. I thought we had almost the same config. (including the 6 cell) and I went from testing to boxing all today Mon. 5/26.

My ESD is 5.28 and EDD is 5.29

 

Really? Darn. What's holding them up with my order? All your specs are pretty much the same as mine, yet I am waiting. Ugh...another few days, I guess.

 

Hope yours doesn't take as long as mine has, it will have been a month on 5.28

 

If they don't ship by tomorrow. I'm going to have a "chat" with them over the phone.

 

I don't see how they could possibly ship tomorrow. You'd need two or three days at least in Boxing before they could ship. But if you're still in Build on your ESD, I bet you could get them to cough something up for you. Something tells me you'll wake up to Boxing tomorrow though.

For what it's worth, I have got more by emailing my CSR (actually staying calm) and requesting the next day shipping and expediting my order. Probably didn't have allot to do with it now being in boxing but I did get next day delivery (free).

 

Which CSR did you email, and how did you go about getting an upgrade to next day delivery? I would love to get free next day?!

 

I think they offer free upgrades to shipping if and only if your order was delayed from your estimated ship date or didn't ship on the ESD.

When I called up CSR one time just to try to get an upgrade to next day delivery, she said she couldnt do anything about it and even asking her supervisor wouldnt do anything as it would involve cancelling and totally replacing the order. I still feel she may have been lying.

 

I ordered by phone and received an email, from the CSR that took my order, with all of her info, email & phone #, which I used both. The last time was in an emial requesting next day shipping. I just pointed out that a month is a long time to wait on a laptop. I kept it short and to the point and it took 4 or 5 days before I got a response but it worked. They actually called me and left me a voice mail.

 

My ESD has always been this week on 5.28 so I had not missed that over a week ago when I made my request. They all seem to have a different story...

 

My config does have the 6-cell battery but not the 7200RPM drive so who knows.

My ESD is 5/27 and its still in the production stage, that doesnt seem good.

ive heard of it going from build straight to shipped before but i doubt that will happen in your guys case

 

Dammit, i am still in the IN PRODUCTION stage, and you guys with the same ESD and EDD are all in testing and boxing stage already..

I just called Dell's automated Order Status, and it says that it is in the BOXING STAGE!!
And it should be shipped on 5/28/2008, im not getting mine early lol...

But I cant wait until i get it!!!

 

Looks like mine might be delayed for another seven days. I am not sure yet, but someone on the forum this morning posted that there is a backorder on the WSXGA+ Screens for about seven days. I am not sure if it will affect me, but I hope not.

 

You mean the 1680x1050 screens? That's the one I ordered and mine went to Boxing yesterday.

I shouldnt really get impatient until...well it will probably happen after 6/3 lol. Probably will start to slowly browse other offerings though

 

It will only show in production on the Internet, you'll have to call and the automated machine will tell you whether it is in the testing or boxing stage.. My laptop should be shipped out on the 28th also but it still show in production on the website, however, when I call, it says it is being boxed

 

I'm sure with enough looking I can find it but do you know the phone number off hand?

Alright!!! in transit to the carrier or something like that but it has shipped and I even have a tracking number now.

Despite the initial long ESD and the slight delay so far I am not that unhappy with dell. Hopefully the first time DHL manages to deliver something on time to me and without issue it will be for my laptop lol.

 

OMG!!!

My 1530 arrived today and a day earlier then DHL estimated which I am still amazed at.

I called DHL to see if it would go a day early since I could see from the tracking info that it was at its final destination before delivery and got told that they dont like to deliver things early because people have complained...I then informed the women that as a seasoned DHL hater that remark was a first for me lol. But whatever they actually got it here and so far so good.


Oh and the LED screen looks AMAZING

 

Not true- i told them that i am a student and asked a few questions about delivery and got next day for free--i would love to get some of those $100 coupons i hear so much about. They had to process it though-mayb the woman u talked to was just too lazy to process it.
