Just spent the most horrible 1 hr of my life ....taking out the 2nd CD my 9 year son was able to push in the Slot-in drive of my 24 hr old Studio behind my back. Man, that was scary......but finally I could use a credit card to somehow cajole the twin CD's out....phew

Can't believe that its physically possible to do what he did, he can't have used that kind of force and that tells me that its a problem waiting for happen to a whole lot of slot-in drive owners.

I had a buddy who locked up my cd drive (tray) back in the day. Put a Starcraft cd over the warcraft cd, classic. Show your kid(s) to always press the eject button before putting a CD inside. Better make sure they only drink from juice boxes around a laptop :)

You could do the same thing with the original iMacs or any other optical drive with a slot opening. I mentioned iMacs because about 6 years ago at my school tech sxupport was annoyed because sometimes kids put 2 CDs in the drive and you would need a brand new drive for the computer. Consider yourself lucky that you got it out.

I love the logic of small children.

"CD no go in easy. Probably should push in harder."

So does the drive still work?

    Almost as good as

"Computer won't load fast enough...smash the side of the monitor with palm"

Nope; we've all done it. My (home-built) computer just went through a very odd cycle where it would power up for about two seconds, then turn off, then power up for about two seconds. A good kick to the side and it stopped.

I can't imagine what people will do next when old LCD starts acting up too. I always thought that "banging the monitor on the side reflex" has something to do with the old typewriter, lol.

    Could be worse...

My niece, who's 14 now, when she was about 2 years old, stuck a broken crayon up her nose! My sister and her husband couldn't remove it, and had to take her to the doctors to have it removed!

When asked why she decided to stick a crayon up her nose, responded "my nose was hungry!"....

Pretty funny now, not so funny at the time.
