No no! I didn't buy it. I was testing out the coupon code to see how low I can get the price down to for one of the E1705's with the 7800GO :)

I placed my order a few days ago. I placed it when the 7800GO had disappeared from USA's website, but was still available here in New Zealand. My thread about my purchase is here. I got much better specs than the one in the first post :D

I place my order for 9400 with 7800Go on 10/Mar/06. However, they told me I need wait until mid of April. Should I keep waiting for this notebook or cancle it.

Wait... Otherwise you might not have another chance to get a powerful card like the 7800Go. ;)

I got word today that they will never get those graphics cards again. 256MB DDR ATI® MOBILITY™ RADEON® X1400 seems to be the permanent replacement.

Does anyone know if the $200 off refurb. coupon is the same as 5JQ?3$V2B1KQFJ? I can't get both to work...

    Thanks

Actually, that's a slight error - it's going to be the ATI X1400 with 256MB Hypermemory not DDR... hehe

I have cancled my order for 9400 with go7800. I don't think they will give me this card. I may consider Acer TM 8204 or wait to see more new model on other brands.

I honestly think that's the worst decision I've seen made yet. I ordered my laptop with the 7800GO, it's in production status right now, who cares if it got delayed, I know I'm definately getting it.

please explain why you think that's a bad decision; is the 7800GO
a drastically more powerful card? or does it consume less power?

If I need wait for another month to get 7800Go, I will have more choice on April. Many new model coming next month and price will drop again. I just saw the news today Dell will have big discount on their products soon.

No, the 7800Go is better than the X1400...I believe the X1600 and the 7800Go are about the same level. Stick with the 7800Go.

Yes, the 7800GO is substantially better than the X1400. So much better, that some people are ready to pay $300-$400 more for the laptop by buying it from eBay or sources other than Dell, just so they have that graphics card.

I had a question. I went to the Dell Outlet site, saw a huge amount of E1705s, but not a single one showed the Video Card. Is there an option I did not choose or some other way to confirm the actual video card inside them?

I have an E1705 on order, since 3/03, and it has the 7800Go, but I am being told by my salesperson that it won't ship until mid-May! If I can confirm one of the refurb or previous-new notebooks definitely has the 7800Go, I will drop my previous order in a heartbeat.

    Thanks for the help!

    ^^ In repose to that...

In the outlet search area, you'll have to change the "video card" option to "256MB", and search then. It'll come up with the 7800GO's (hopefully, make sure they arent the x1400 instead).

Personally, I recommend looking for them early in the morning when not many other people are, you can get some seriously good deals at that time.

makemedie, has Dell told you that you will definately get your order with 7800Go? I placed my order for the e1705 with 7800Go back in February and it's been delayed 3 times already. I just talked to the Modification dept. or whatever earlier and they told me that they're not going to get this card anymore even though I placed my order back when this card was still available. In other word, they're telling me that there's no point for me waiting for it. They gave me option of replacing it with the X1400 with $200 less than 7800Go.

I'm just wondering if anyoned has been told the same thing? Is it possible for Dell to not ordering my card even though it was available when I placed the order? thanks.

    Hey,

I spoke with my rep today, apparently they get the 7800GO shipments in on April 7th.

    Cheers.

you know whats strange? i talekd to the mod department too and i asked the guy there and he said that they had plenty o f7800 in stock - so i dont know who dell has working for them ... apparently none of them know the same thing....

anyone else talk to the mod department?
