I don't know quite what is going on but there is a huge price difference between the same setup of the dell.ca xps 1330 ($1679CA) and dell.com xps 1330 ($1859US or $1987CA).

So if you live near the border and are looking to save $300 that might be the way to go :) . It was even funnier when a couple days ago on the dell.ca website there was an error and the laptop was going for under $1500CA (somehow LED+9-cell+200gb 7200rpm HD was free).

    setup was: T7100, LED screen, 2gb ram, 120gb HD, 8400gs, 9-cell battery, 802.11a/b/g.

For some reason they've been doing this for awhile. We Canadians don't always get the same options as our US brethren, but we sure do get a good price. I was tire kicking the idea of a XPS1710 a few months ago, and priced identical units on the US vs CDN sites, and Canada was always WAY cheaper. I don't know why, perhaps I've said too much... :p .

Looks the same in the UK - the base m1330 is £549+VAT (US$1,096). I'm so used to high UK prices, I'm seriously wondering if Dell has made a mistake here...

T7100 is the perfect option for that laptop. If anything the laptop will be GPU limited.

I really hope they don't change the free stuff because the only reason I am waiting is for the better CPU options.

Also, after using the 15.4 wxga fitting a lot of things on my screen, would I be uncomfortable with a m1330? It will be my one and main setup at home and out.

What warranty would you guys get?
I'm debating between the 3 year basic (return to depot), or the 1 year with complete care.
The reason is that I have 1 more year of school, which is where I think the notebook will be treated the roughest (possibility of spill/drops...not by me, but others) and wouldn't be covered by the basic warranty.

    No more free stuff!

The extra CPU options are on the Canadian site if you take the following approach: Home & Home Office -> XPS -> XPS M1330 -> Products Tab -> More Details Button -> Select the config on the right. The 2.4GHz isn't there, but the rest of the options are there. They fixed the free LED screen as well, and they have a Dell Wireless N card instead of the Intel...

I went to the Dell kiosk and ordered one tonight, and it will be my first notebook. No freebies through the website, but I did negotiate $100 off with the rep. Tax is a killer in Ontario, Canada at 14%!

    Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 2.2GHz
    2 GB Ram
    LED Display
    Nvidia 8400M
120GB HD, will upgrade to a Seagate Momentus 7200 rpm
    Dell 1505 Wireless N
    6 Cell Battery
    Fingerprint Reader
    Bluetooth
    3 year warranty

Edit: It came to $2188 before tax. Just under $2500 with tax. Dell Canada is saying my ship date is August 13! I wasn't sure about the 3 year warranty, but I decided why not when I had to choose.
