I was talking to a dell rep the other day on the phone because I was ordering a laptop for my girlfriend. I remember someone saying on these forums is there going to be Thanksgiving / Christmas sales. Well guess what? Nothing like what you can find now. She said on almost every laptop the price is going to be going up due to the time of season. So if you find a good deal, GET IT.

E1505 and X1400 lovers, I asked about the x1600 and she commented back "classified." Take that as a grain of salt, but it might mean something.

Just wanted to give yall a heads up :)

how can you tell that the prices are going down !
i can tell you right now that the prices will GO down and down , day by day.
i've been researching for more than a year and i can tell you right now that for the same amount of money you can buy more "tomorrow" than "today". the more you wait the better system you'll get.
there was only one big minority change for the last months and that was removing 300 and 450 and 700 off coupons but there're still some coupons around to use.

Yeah. It is interesting to find out that the original poster has sort of "fall into that Dell rep's trap!" I mean by saying that "the prices of laptops are going to go up," what is the natural reaction? Yeah, it is to buy now & isn't what the sales rep are supposed to do? To try to persuade you to buy NOW? If not, why would the company want to hire them to do their job then?

Hardware prices continuously drop regardless of the time of year. The question is not "will" it go down, but "how much" will it go down.

i agree with the others that the prices can only drop...and you were talking to a dell rep, which means that of course they would want you to buy now! they arent gonna tell you "oh sir, our prices on computers are going to drop, do not buy a computer now!" duh!!

I called to cancel my order not to order anything. I do all my orders online so I can do it whenever I want. They said the prices wouldnt go lower because of demand. No trap. i am not talking about after christmas... I talking about between now and Christmas......there is a difference.

for this holiday season, i say "no".
but for the early spring i say "may be"
the problem i think base on the new os itseft
while you can get the xp home with the cheapest price after 6 years since the date it released.
vista comes up with a mess price that i afraid that will make the price for laptop comes up
it's still not clear how they will give customer option to chose their favor os . it 's ridicoulus to pay $50 more to get a vista home basic

My problem is that after having been lurking on this website all week, and constantly building my new laptops...i don't think I can wait to buy a new E1705 for the current deal...even if the prices go down in a few weeks, not sure I can hold out much longer. Especially since I am typing on a notebook with a huge crack across it. Any opinions on the next coupon and when it will be? Ill probably just order tonight. Thanks

I'm not sure but I think the next round of Dell coupons will be posted tomorrow morning, or every Thursday for that matter.

Come on now. There are going to be some good coupons between now and the end of the year. There were pretty good 30% off coupons a couple of weeks back.

And I am sure that dell is going to try and match some of the other deals out there. Lenovo has a pretty nice sale going and if dell is going to keep giving us crappy 20% off coupons for their hugely overpriced base price, they can say goodbye to by $$$'s. And there are a lot of low end HP's, toshiba's etc in BF ads all over the place.

as for memory prices being high, a lot of that has to do with the weak dollar here, and the knowledge that RAM will be in big demand for Vista customers...
