Whew. Just cancelled my 2nd laptop(this is getting absurd) because I didnt do my homework when i ordered an e1705 from dell home with a t7200 core 2 duo yesterday night. I "thought" i was getting the best deal, that is until i was randomly browsing the dell epp site. I found that i could get a system with a bigger harddrive(120gb vs 80gb) and a 4 yr warranty(vs my 2 yr warranty) for $50 less then what i paid at dell home! The product code is here: A4678SP1
Customize this to your taste and then pay using your dell DPA account and ask for an the extra $50 rebate! I was happy enough that i was getting a better deal then before so i didnt bother to haggle with the csr about more discounts, but its possible that you can get an ever better deal(but unlikely). The big deal here is that this specific model will get 20% off as well as the 12% epp discount(as well as the $50 rebate for the warranty, and another $50 rebate if you use you DPA). The Catch? Apparently dell releases new coupons for dell home on thursday morning and well, who knows what kind of deals theyre gonna roll out with, but i cant imagine it being something insane like the $750 off coupons simply because Core 2 duo was released just this week and demand is high enough that they don't need to slash prices even further to sell them.

help me out if you can, i cant seem to find that system using that product code, by chance is it incorrect?
-
go to www.dell.com/epp , select your sector(health, student, govt, whatever) , go to the inspirons, and when you click customize, the system all the way to the right is the one im referring to, product code is still A4678SP1

I did this for a E1505, pretty cool you get 10% off plus 4% off with a 1/2 year warranty(standard). Only thing is i can't get the 20% off 999+ coupon code to work on top of it. What is the point of the EPP site? I didn't even know about it, i go to a state university, so can i get even more of a discount?
-
exactly is there company/education discount site
-
Thanks for the info, but would this work for a canadian buyer as well? Ive been trying to use coupons for inspiron 9400, (not sure if that would make a difference as the e1705 is almost identical) but they have been saying they have all been used.
I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction? -
i guess it doesnt hurt to try, use the dell.com/epp site to get this price
-
What is the difference between the regular dell site and the EPP site? What is the EPP site intended for, and if it is cheaper why doesn't everyone just use the EPP site?
-
epp site is for students, organizations, gov't workers, dell gives them special discounts, and they're also pretty lax about who actually qualifies(they just asked me where i went to school when i placed my order and thats it).

Doesn't seem to work for the Canadian site. I tried dell.ca/epp, didn't work.
I tried fudging 'us' to 'ca', didn't work.
Any of these discounts for Canadians? Nah, Canada's an afterthought as usual...
If your ordering an e1705 with C2D hear me out!
