Interesting, and suprising about the refund, not suprised about the 5150 issues.

They insisted on sending me a replacement 5150 that I really didnt want them to do (and in fact told them not to) and it is sitting here in the box unopened and I am typing this on the lemon that I am supposed to return for it.

I filed my complaint with the BBB on the 9th.

I really dont know what the right thing is to do. Send new one back, send new and old one back, keep new one send old one back and hope for better. mabey they will do nothing more,, mabey the BBB tossed my complaint since they did send me a replacement.

Unsure of the right thing to do.

I have no idea what to tell you.....I did not want to keep mine as it seems the problem is systemic to that model....maybe they have changed it up some since I got mine but yours was virtually new if I recall, mine was a couple of months older.

If you feel comfortable taking a chance.....otherwise I'd call the BBC and check about the status of your complaint. They do seem to have done more for others though.

well this po'd off man inside me wants to send them both back and tell em to go to hell, but rationally this would not be the right thing to do. I have to live up to my end of the bargain at least while I fight them.

Dell has obviously swapped other models out to replace the 5150 and/or given refunds. This gives me the inspiration to fight (ouch that sucked [xx(] )

I think I wll leave the new one they sent me unopened for now and push. At least if I get to a bargaining table again I have a new unused 5150 to send back that they can sell to some other poor sod [V]

I hear you---it would really make me angry as well to hear stories of others getting something they were refusing me--it would help if they were consistent.

You could always try to sell the new one on ebay--it's new unopened and presumably covered by warrenty......

I had a really great laptop from dell that worked flawlessly for 4 years before I got my 5100 and I was really surprised at the 5100......I hope my 8600 works as well as my first one.

I'm sure that I would take a substantial loss. Why would someone buy this from me unopened when they can buy from Dell at the same cost and cut out the middleman.

I've decided to leave the new one in the box and fight Dell a bit longer. If they refuse to buckle then I got an $1,800 notebook that eats motherboards instead of Wheaties for breakfast [ :(!]

Have you tried asking them (sweetly of course) for a 3 yr at home service contract for all of your trouble? t least then, the cost of those boards will be theirs--and if they are confident of the performance, that should be an easy sell. Just thinking out loud.

There is a farily healthy ebay trade in boxed dells but I have no idea what sort of loss you might take but at least you woulnd't have to stare at it and let it send your blood pressure through the roof.

A 3 year at home contract for all my troubles would be a least I would take. Believe me these guys will be happy to rid me in about a week. This forum too, needs to lose the drama king lol[:X]
