I read your messages on another board -- have they issued the credit yet (I am stunned that you did not get a refund btw![:0])?
Since you are contrained to buy a dell (and boy your story told me a lot about not to buy from them (ie, I'd never use their credit program))--have you decided what to buy?
And finally, have any hair left at all? []

Yea I must be stupid it was just as much trouble getting my account credited. But I gave them my word that I would purchase another system from them after they issued me the credit. And I ordered a 600M, ironically it will arrive today. Its from the outlet and I got a 3 year warrenty for $99 so this makes me feel better. Plus I saved a ton on it.
Just call me stupid, you won't be the first nor the last [}] but I am anxious to get it, I have heard alot of praise from 600M owners.
Edit: hair loss started anyway lol -

Okay, I recieved my 600M a few hours ago and here is my first impression.
This keyboard really sucks. Not the layout, but it reminds me of a kids play piano, one of those old fisher price die cast metal deals that you have to hammer on! And the space between the keys you can see the shiny metal (the inside of the notebook). It is rattley. Sounds like the keys have sand built inside of them shaking!
Do I have an ancient 600M? Is anyone elses like this? My 5150 was a lemon, but it felt a WHOLE lot nicer than this one.
Also the lid seems really flimsy And there seems to be a great deal of heat coming from the left palm wrist area. These last 2 I can deal with, but I am severly disappointed with the keyboard.
I wonder if I just have an old one here (since I got it from the outlet).
What does some other 600M owners have to say? I wonder if they have come out with a new keyboard (design change).
On a good note, it is indeed light and the SXGA screen looks awesome. -
Oh boy, hope you can get used to the keyboard.........
when I ordered my 8600, I got an sxga screen, and everything on it seemed ridiculously small to me and gave me a headache.........so I re-ordered and got and xga screen..........
the xga machine had a keyboard that was just like you describe.....it was really annoying especially since I had a great keyboard on the sxga machine.......hitting the keys on the xga produced a horible clanging on the metal underneath and the whole keyboard was flexed up in the middle.........
you can guess which one I kept...........
the left palmrest heat is an issue with the 600 from all accounts, it's a little warm on the 8600 but not bothersome.
I was really hoping your 600 was going to great -- hate to see anyone having such a hard time.
You could ask them to replace the keyboard I guess.

This 600M has alot of nice points despite the keyboard sounding like a rattly arse chuckwagon barrling down the dirt trail. No fan kicking on is a BIG plus. Carrying it around the house is another. The price was another[
].
I have 8 more days to return this if I so choose. If I did, I would go with the 8600 like advised so many times before.
Its my call.

Be very careful with the timing of the return if you do decide to send it back--I think the clock starts ticking when they send it t you--not when you recieve it. [xx(]
The 8600 is really light in comarison to the 51XX series, if that worries you--I can't believe how little it weighs in comparison to the old behemoth 51XX I had.
I suppose as long as you aren't using it in a library or elsewhere where the noise might be a problem, you could get used to the 600.
Good luck sir!
