Hi,
Im new to this site.
After browsing around for a while, I have learned so much more about my laptop that I never knew!
I bought my E1705 Notebook about 2 weeks ago, and the first thing that ran to my mind was, "WOW, my GPU runs hot!"
So I did a bit of research and found out that it was running at a "normal" temperature. It doesnt matter what normal is, but 75C during normal usuage isnt normal to me(supposeably my GPU can go as high as 90C without damage).
First thing I did was install this program (that is very popular here) called 18kGuiFan... EXCELLENT program. My Idle dropped from 72C to about 40C!!!
The GPU temp dropped so much that I am now thinking about overclocking my GPU!
Well anyway, just stopping by to show appreciation to this site.
Here are my specs:
E1705
Core 2 Duo 2.16 T7400
2 GB Ram @ 667 MHz
100 GB HDD @ 7200 RPM
WUXGA 1920x1280 LCD
Geforce Go 7900 GS
(I really like my Laptop, I just dont like the fact that I couldnt be patient enough to wait for the Geforce Go 8xxx GPU and Santa Rosa CPU's)

Congratulations on your purchase. Great specfication by the way. Don't bother waiting for new processors and components to come out, unless offcourse its a week or month away. Reason is, there will always be something new coming out in the future, and it isn't practical to wait so long. Anyway, enjoy your notebook.

Wow. That's a bit better than what I got. The gpu does seem to run hot but remember in a laptop there is less space to work in therefore cooling doesn't appear as efficient. I normally idle at about 55-60C though with the same card. The fans kick it into high gear somewhere around 75-80C though and bring the temperature back down. Usually during heavy gaming. I know where the gpu is located at (right side) mostly due to the amount of heat on that side.
P.S. - My specs are in the signature.
Im new here... Here are the specs to my E1705 Notebook
