    Hi All,

Im very new to this fingerprinting thing.

Although Ive been able to log on to my computer using a fingerprint reader but I cant do anything further like "encrypt a file or folder", "add more passwords to the fingerprint reader " .

Apart from this when I visit websites where password entry is required the fingerprint reader does not pop up .Is it supposed to pop up

Does this indicate that I have to re install the fingerprit reader software ?

Any link to a resource on this topic on the net or this forum would be very much appreciated .

    Thanks and Regards.

Have you installed the UPEK PSQL Suilte? If so, open the Fingerprint Control Panel/User settings, and enable the website registration....

It isn't supposed to pop up either.. You just swipe your finger when you need to enter userid/password. i.e. if you have registered the site..

Yes,the UPEK suite is pre installed .

When some website is to be registered I swipe my finger on the fingerprint reader but nothing happens .

Not only this ,when I right click on some file/folder to encrypt it a window opens prompting to write a back up password .But when I write the back up password and click OK ,I get a big error message .

    Still I'll try again .

One important info for all XPS laptop users in India the XPS "email" and "chat support" for Indian customers is hopeless .

make sure you put in your login information in the page first then swipe your finger after that thet page is supposed to blink. thats when you know you got it. you might be swiping it wrong.

OK..When I try to access user settings(I think this contains the password bank),Im prompted to swipe my finger .I then get a green tick mark and simultaneously a small error window opens which says Fingerprint software error :

    "Cannot access user settings.

Please try the operation again later "

I've tried this a number of times but still I keep getting the same error .

Ive even downloaded the software again 2-3 times but no success .

    This is getting frustrated :(

    I've tried again and again
