My Vostro 1400 that I ordered yesterday went into testing today. It has an estimated ship of Sept. 12th, and I got free overnight shipping added for waiting on an Inspiron 1420, which I ended up canceling to place the Vostro order (looks like I made the right decision). So I'm pretty happy it's ahead of schedule. I'm wondering with Labor Day coming on Monday, and it being the weekend, when I can expect it to ship? I was thinking it would ship Tuesday (the earliest possible time for it to ship with the holiday), then I'd have it Wednesday. But then I read that boxing can take a few days. So does Dell box packages on Sunday and holidays? Can I expect it to be ready to ship by Tuesday? Also, does anyone know which overnight method Dell uses (by 10:30AM, 12, 3PM)? Thanks.

Yeah it is. I kind of wish there wasn't a holiday Monday, and I'd have to go in to work instead, just so my notebook would ship sooner. Is that sad or what.

I don't know if this clarifies anything at all, but for my *third* ship date (which has since been extended by a fourth delay!), the website said it was supposed to ship on Monday. that's not to say they are suddenly working on holidays, but I thought maybe the shipping could apply to being brought over from China too??? I dunno. But as far as boxing goes, I'm guessing your computer is still in China, and I'm guessing they don't observe labor day there. But this might stem from my complete ignorance of what the different stages mean!

Oh! My mistake! Well, then labor day won't affect its status at all, I would think.

Finally in the Boxing stage now after 7 hours in testing. So if they do the boxing on Sundays, then it should be ready to ship out on Tuesday when DHL opens back up (I'm hoping).

Still in boxing, two days now (a Sunday and a holiday though). What exactly is done in the boxing stage? It seems like it should take a couple minutes to put it in a box, unless there's more to it than that. Hopefully it'll ship out sometime tomorrow.

it only takes a couple of minutes, but think about all the other computers they have to box.it is not like your the only one that is boxing(no offense), but others have to box, in which you will have to wait for your turn.

My 1420 went to boxing on 09/01 and has been stuck there ever since. Hopefully it'll ship in the next 48 hours. Not complaining though --> my ESD is 09/07.
