It's me again, Mr. impatient waiting on his 1st notebook to arrive from Dell. Ive heard a lot of you mention that some of Dell's manufactuing is in Malaysia, then shipped back to their warehouse in Tennessee?
My question is i just checked the status on my order and it's "In Transit to Carrier" . Does this means its being shipped back to Dell in Tennessee, and from there to me in California? Dell states this can take 1-3 days for this process. Does it really look like i wont have my new notebook for this weekend. Gosh!!!

No, that means that it is on a truck to the local UPS/FedEx/DHL center to be put on their truck to be shipped to you. Sounds confusing? Here is how it works...
Once the shipment gets to Tennessee, Dell uses a private contractor to take the packages to either UPS, FedEx, or DHL regional center. It depends on the method of delivery. Most of my stuff from Dell comes via DHL, but my laptop came UPS.
Once it gets to the regional center, UPS/FedEX/DHL will scan it and you will be able to track your shipment via thier tracking system. Until then, it will say "in transit to carrier".
This normally takes about 24 hours to go from the Dell center in Tennessee to the Carrier's center, and this is why if you have the tracking number and enter it in the carrier's tracking system, it will say something about shipment information received, but no package. -
Thanks for easing my mind SouthernGirl! Much appreciated!
