I have a Dell Vostro 1500 (for specs, see my signature).
Now... I wondered if I could "upgrade" my RAM memory to 3 GB (so a 1 GB card + a 2 GB card)?
There are 2 modules in my laptop, right?

Can anyone tell me if this is possible and how to do this?

It is possible. All you have to do is unscrew the RAM cover on the bottom of your laptop and replace the current 1 GB stick with a 2 GB stick.

So... I should be looking for a 2GB 667MHz RAM stick (for notebooks), right?
Anything with these specs. will work on my laptop?
    Just plug & play?

Yes, a 200pin DDR2 PC 5300/5400(Also reffered to as PC2 5300/5400, DDR2 667) SODIMM is what you should be looking for.

Since you are just going to replace one RAM module, the bottom slot should suffice. Do note though that the other slot for the other module is on the area above the keyboard [directly below the screen].

OK, thanks for the replies guys!
But now I wonder... will it help in the end? Will the 3GB vs. 2GB memory be noticable?

I have the 1500, and upgraded first from 1->2gb, then 2gb->3gb. It is much smoother running day to day applications if you are a power user.

Check my sig if you want a walk through of how to change the ram under the keyboard.

I'm going to be adding a 2 GB module to my 1500 soon as well. It's good to know that I won't have to mess around with the keyboard to do so.

Yesterday I had to swap my 2gb chip from my thinkpad for the 1gb chip from my inspiron.

It was very quick to get the memory in and out of the inspiron, but took a wee bit longer to get in and out of the thinkpad.
