India Inspiron/Vostro/XPS Order status thread

Hey guys, just wanted to know about the current order status of those who ordered their Dell laptop in India . Also, please mention the order date and the estimated delivery date . If already delivered, please mention the date it was delivered and feel free to add any other remarks.

Let me start off... I have ordered a Vostro 1500 on the 9th of august and it's already shipped on the 10th but the EDD is 29th august.

 

Ordered 13th, shipped 21st, delivered 31st. Laptop in Sig.

In siggy. Someone from Dell called up last week (9th) and told me that it would take around another 15 days. Another one had said before that it would be shipped around 17th August.

 

Ordered 27 july, shipped 29 july, delivery 16 aug.

 

wow...everyone in india has their laptops(excluding xps) shipped in a day or two, but there is a vast difference between the ship date and the delivery date

 

yeah customs take most of the time... and Invoicing

 

agreed that customs take most of the time, but shouldn't dell get this sorted by now? every now and then they must be importing so many laptops btw choy, are you from India?

 

you know how customs work here.. yeah m currently in bangalore

 

I have placed the order for Inspiron 1520 on 7th Aug and now its showing ESD as 30th Aug 2007
Latest status is "Ship From Factory" on 11th Aug

Does anyone know, where we can check more details on the Shipping Status?

 

you will have to call the dell order status number....080 – 25068035 or 1800 425 4051 for detailed info...mine is sitting in customs clearance from 7th...sheesh

 

Well any of you in India have grainy screens,I want to buy a dell laptop, but after reading horror stories of grainy displays i am gravitating towards Sony Vaio's.So is this problem America specific(or displays made in china)or it is also a big issue in India.I dont want a grainy lcd.any input in this regard will help me.thanks

 

i don't think anyone of us have received their inspiron's/vostros as yet...i'll report about the screen when i get my vostro...

It's absolutely frustrating to see others getting their vostros within a week or ten days and us having to wait longer. Absolutely unfair

 

Mine is also in my sig, although I am worried like hell about the screen being grainy and all..or it being too reflective and causing headaches, etc.

 

I'll give you a simple solution.... Dont worry!!!
If after you receive the lappy, you find the screen is not up to the mark then you can worry... until then, dont bring yourself misery by anticipating something which may not happen.

 

Heh, yeah that is a good idea. It's just that its hard not to Well, I am quite lucky generally with gadgets, so I am sure this one will also turn out to be just great. I tried asking the CSR what would happen if I had a grainy screen and he had no idea what I was talking about. Then I called it blurry and he said they don't replace screens.
Then I said if there is a fault in the screen, what would happen, and he told me that they would replace the screen then or maybe replace the whole system. So that puts me at ease Although, I am just hoping everything works and all's well in the first go.

Btw, how much did you pay for your Vostro?

 

I paid around 63k for my config.

 

did anyone get their "Greetings" from dell? mine is as follows

this is plain bull****...the csr told me ill get it on 24th(in customs clearance), the same day i get this mail, which says its about to be shipped form malaysia....whats up with dell

 

oh, man...... that's like more than a week later than estimated date !!!
Damn, this seems pretty depressing considering i am to get it on the 29th. Well, i'll just hope for the best.

 

it is so confusing man...the dell mail said that my laptop is going to be shipped from Malaysia, when it actually shipped on the 7th itself ..after hinting my case manager that i *may* cancel the order, she again called to say it is awaiting customs clearance, and will reach me before the 27th she is going to update me about my order status tomorrow...lets see what happens

 

Same case with me, today 21st aug, i should have got my laptop.

INspiron 1520,.

it was shippped on 6 aur.
still in custom clearance.

very frustrating response by dell customer care.


they say it will take around 31st.
i ordered for 9 cell battery to expedite my delivery instead of 6 cell. but still it is delayed.

 

I have ordered xps m1330 on 23rd July and it is still under production.

 

Well, I called up Dell today and got the same "custom clearance to blame" reply.
It seems around 500 shipments are stuck in customs at this time and my order had been shipped on the 14th itself and i could get my laptop either by the end of this week or by the end of this month

My Inspiron 1520 was shiiped from Factory and its still in Bangalore in Custom Clarence. I called up the CSR and said it might take a week to get it from there from today. I hope I will get that by the end of the month

 

well, the guys at dell have a track record of saying things they dont really mean (either because they dont know or they dont really care)

 

Well, It seems even i got my greeting from Dell today( incidentally, even i had called up Dell today to check my order status ).

My date is 6th September! Is it safe to say that I can expect it at the end of September? If it is a second later than 6th September, I'll just threaten to cancel my order. That's the only way they know, when they see their 80K going down the drain.

Threaten to cancel the order. It works most of the time.

I know it will, for me. Otherwise I'll take my money back, seriously, go to HP's showroom, and pick one.

 

my order status page still shows my edd as 26th, while the order status line csr told me edd will be 27th, the dell mail i got says 11th sept...what the hell is goin on

 

Damn I m hoping to order mine in the first week of September.... I just hope the delays and all get some what sorted out by then.... I have a small doubt that DELL is currently in short of LCD screens and are so hiding it by telling their customers that their laptop is stuck at the customs..... They cant keep the laptop that long in customs you know....

all our systems were already shipped...also, dell should have informed us if there were going to be any delays cuz of lcd's, etc ...never expected such horrible service from dell

 

When did you get the mail telling you about the 11th september delay ???

 

The order status page of my Notebook shows that it has been built, and is ready to be shipped, since yesterday. The ESD is September 6, 2007, ie, 15 more days. When can I expect it? I mean will it be late?

15 days for getting shipped from Malaysia, and the clearing the customs to reach me seems possibe. Or not??

 

What is your system config and order date ?

Got an email from Dell last night...Greeting from Dell
My EDD is not 6th Sept instead of 28th Aug

 

Wow! I have almost the same configuration as your's. And on top of that, I have Black as the color. Hopefully, I'll get it before 6th, and not after that.

EDIT - We have the same configuration, but it cost me 73,000 INR, and it cost you 60,000, how so?

 

You have 17 Inch Screen and I got 15.4 Inches. I have ordered 1520 and not 1720

I got two greetings from DELL . On 20th, they delayed my EDD from 22nd to 31st aug. Next day I got another mail and they delayed it to 8th sept.

dell sucks period.....my laptop is in Bangalore from the 9th, how can they not sort out the customs issue by now?
the estimated delivery date is anywhere from the day after tomorrow till the 11th ~
EDIT: Call the customer care line, and threaten the rep that you will cancel the order...they said that they will try to put my case on "priority" and will make sure that my order reaches me well in advance....post what happens if u happen to call and threaten

 

That's what I asked others to do. My 1720 is ready to be shipped since the 21st of this month, hasn't shipped yet, and 3 days are added to it (from September 6th to Septeber 9th)!

hahah^^ i hope that the dell rep understood what you had written in the mail..communicating with them is a major problem, be it email or fone...all they can say is "we are really sorry blah blah"...according to the manager, all our laptops(those already shipped) are sitting in banglore (500 shipments)..wonder why there are so many of them its still waiting for custom clearance...according to the manager, they are still sorting out the shipments from 9th august..geez... from 4th sept i got 11th sept The manager said if the customs is sorted out, the laptops will be immediately sent to logistics, where they will be forwarded to respective places :\

Just placed my order today... and these mails by you ppl abt the delayed delivery.... are scaring me....
Could not check the exact status today as order is placed today itself....

Any idea when can i expect my system....
Will that take a month or 2 ...??? I'm from BAngalore....
