Alright, I ordered an Inspiron 1520 back in the 18th of November, which later shipped on the 21st, when Dell was still doing their gift card promotion.
I understand that the gift card is supposed to come 6-8 weeks after the shipping date and now it's been around 10. I called Dell customer service to see what's up and the lady I spoke to said that I was ineligible for the gift card.
When I asked her why, she couldn't say.
So, I was just wondering has anyone else faced this same problem? And what do you guys think I should do?

Oh yeah and my order was around $1200 which I believe qualified for a $100 Dell gift card.

Tell them they cannot just say you do not get part of your order.

Ask for a specific reason or tell them they're doing a bait'n'switch.

I'll let you know about my getting my card soon....maybe they're pulling this on many people. Hopefully I get mine :(.

I hope that your card arrives soon.

I'm just wondering what makes me "ineligible" for the card or if they're just lying and saying they can't a provide a reason. I'll probably give them another ring tomorrow.

I called Dell again and they said that the gift card is supposed to show up some where in the invoice. Does the card appear on anyone else's invoice? because I think this may be the problem.

Had bascially the same problem up until a few days ago. Called Dell and asked about the delay in receiving my $200 gift card. I was directed to the sales department; who, without hesitation, stated that my invoice did not show the gift card as part of the deal. They were right, without a doubt. But it was an issue that I had discussed previously, and it wasn't handled by them.

Nevertheless, I was told that they couldn't do anything, so they transferred me to "customer care" (away from the english speaking help that I could understand, to the help that takes 3 times as long to get things resolved.

Anyway, customer care just relayed the same "we can't do any thing" message. Even after I explained that my quote (generated online) clearly showed that I met the coupon requirements and also showed, on the quote the $200 coupon inclusion.

So, I got very angry and demanded a full refund. I just don't have the time for foolishness. The rep did not hesitate giving me a RMA # and emailed all instructions for getting a full refund. Hey, wha' up wit dat? It was too easy. Is Dell having problems honoring these coupons?

So, I started preparing the machine to return, looking for another laptop (from another vendor). Next day, the coupon arrives!!! Coinsidence or what?

I'm very disapointed with dell, and the machine has some shortcomings as far as my needs are concerned. This whole incident raises a lot of issues. I believe that there are many who have received the same treatment that you and I have concerning this benefit.

My machine is in the box ready to go back.............I'm still looking for the replacement. Any recommendations? Don't think I'll be looking on the Dell site.

I too ordered an inspiron 1520 around Nov 15th and was quoted a $150 gift card. However it does not appear on my online invoice any longer. I have called several times and each time I am toldl I am in the database and eligible but that they are really behind on mailing them and to give them another 2 weeks. I think they are trying to pull a scam on a lot of people and pushing it off as long as possible hoping people will give up.

I didn't buy a notebook, but I have the same problem. I bought an XPS 720 and the sales rep told me it was eligible, and I received an email stating I should receive it. I called a few times and they said wait 6-8 weeks. Then last night I call it has been 8 weeks, and they tell me my name is on a list that i am ineligible. What can I do? I spoke to a supervisor and they told me the same thing. The only form of contact they gave me was an address, and a fax number. I am not going to give up. I told them I want to return it and they promptly said it's been more than 21 days. Screw that! Thanks for any input.

update on my situation. Dell supervisors are now offering me 100.00 coupon everytime I call. I'm not accepting it. The 200.00 gift card showed up in my email receipt. They are just telling me that i am ineligible, and that they have no answer. I am just so pissed that I can't do anything. I faxed a letter to corporate 4 days ago and still haven't received a response. Does anyone have a phone number or a contact at dell that I can speak to? Thanks

Just a quick question. How do you know if you are eligible? I bought a Inspiron 1520 back in September.

Called again, said that my configuration didn't qualify for a gift card.
I asked what configuration I needed to qualify and the customer service guy replied by saying that he doesn't have the information any longer because it was back in November. To be honest, I don't know what to do anymore. It seems that I can't go anywhere with this situation. I even tried contacting the sales rep who sold me the laptop but it turns out that the site where she worked closed. Talk about bad luck.

I actually upgraded a few things on the computer, I got the 2gb corsair 1066mhz ram vs. 2gb dell memory.

I got the 10,000rpm western digital HD vs the standard but nothing outside of that. I think it is just a scam. I just still can't believe that they won't budge. In the initial email I got as soon as I got off the phone with the sales rep it showed the 200 dollar gift card. Now when I go to my invoice online it doesn't show anymore. I didn't have any discounts or anything. Just the standard warranty with accidental damage for 1 year. The supervisors don't have an answer for me either. This is B.S. What are they going to tell me next, that I don't get the 12 months no interest?

Dell keeps asking me for the email that was sent to me after the purchase that shows the 200.00 gift card. I deleted it from my email a few weeks ago, because the invoice online under my dell account showed the 200.00. Now when I go to my account and pull up the invoice it doesn't show the 200.00 anymore.....THEY DELETED IT! I clearly purchased an eligible machine and met all the criteria. I just spoke to the sales rep that sold me the computer and he admits to telling me I would be receiving a 200.00 gift card, but can only offer me 100.00 to finalize the issue, regardless of the fact that he remembers telling me and emailing me I would receive it. I am still awaiting a call from corporate to voice my opinion. I have done everything I can for now. Does anyone have a copy of their invoice showing the 200.00 gift card in the receipt? If so could you delete the personal info and send it to me? This way I can paste it on my invoice that the 200.00 mysteriously disappeared from. Any help would be great thanks!

Case# 187167189>>>>I ordered a Dell 1420 Inspiron Notebook [/B]on 11/14/07 then called back and changed the order a bit. I was told that I would receive a $150.00 Gift Card by the Dell representative I spoke with at the end of the order. It has been 12 weeks since my order and I've still not received my Gift Card. Also I was called by a Dell representative in mid December 2007 and asked if I would like to extend the warranty and I did; I was promised a $75.00 coupon for purchasing the warranty. I haven't received the $75 coupon and I am being told now on the 19th of February 2008 that I am ineligible for the $150 gift card. The representative who sold me the 1420 Inspriron Notebook promised me the $150 gift card and now your managers way over in India are telling me I am ineligible for it. What kind of outfit are you running. The $150 gift card was an incentive to purchase the 1420 Inspiron Notebook. I am extremely disappointed. You sure were ready to take my money on a promise; it is evident that your company lied to me. And I spoke with a representative whose name is Gary; he is the one that gave me the case# 187167189 and said there had been a misunderstanding and that I should receive the $150 Gift Card; I spoke with him on February 16, 2008. What is going on? Unless this issue is resolved I am going to request a refund on the notebook because you have not lived up to your promise. Deborah Young[/B][/B][/B][/B]

I ordered on 11/15/07 as well, and received the computer on 11/23/08. I had to make no less then four calls to customer service, and finally got someone to take ownership of my issue. Everyone else just kept telling me to call back in a week (I started calling about it after 8 weeks from ship date). Just stay on them until it's resolved. Be the squeaky wheel. Dell finally sent me an email coupon that I had to use in a single purchase, which was ok because the items I wanted amounted to slightly over the gift card amount. Good Luck!

I hate to say this again...but just call your credit card company and dispute the charges. As long as you have documentation(invoice, chat logs, etc) your credit card company will contct Dell. I use Amex for ALL my electronic purchases, and they have backed me %100.

I'm very angry with Dell right now. They're telling my I'm not eligible - bull crap. They told me I was eligible multiple times and I was called BY THEM to confirm I'd receive it.

My rep, a very nice Indian man, was nonetheless firm in saying that he has no options. Bull crap. Give me a $200 coupon and I'm happy. I know you can do that.

And that my computer was purchased within the proper time and met ALL the requirements but he CAN NOT give me what was promised in writing and VERBALlY!!!!!!!!!!!!! but shortly after the return [eriod was told I was not eligible. I spoke to a Flippin canadian sales rep the other day that reminded me that I had called 28 times regarding this issue and he asked me if I bought the computer for the $200 gift card or for the $2800 computer!!!!!!!!!! I was like dude I bought this computer with the knowledge that I was going to receive the gift card! It just made me mad!

If you have not visited the link above for the dellcommunity. DO IT NOW!!!! There is a dell rep named Todd that is monitoring that forum and he is resolving (assisting) the issues that are described here. I don't want anyone to miss out on their gift cards, so please visit that link and PM your order number to him. Read his posts, read all the posts in the link and you will see what I mean. Thanks

I too called about the gift card...I was supposed to receive (bought a Inspiron 1720 w/ extras..after auto rebates still paid almost $1400) The dollar amount for the gift card was based off of the original value ofsystem purchased, before before rebates...so I should have received the $200.00 card.
I talked to the India idiots as well was told pretty much the same as others. I then called the purchasenumber as those are always answered by American offices. The nice lady i spoke to said it appeared that under that promotione I should have gotten it...and she stated many people have called with the same story and Dell believes there was a program error that caused alot of orders to get screwed up.
I was told she would forward the issue to the person Dell had working on correcting this error, and that I would be contacted that was like a month ago.
I for one think I have been getting an ulser from dealing with these folks.....Personally I want to file a laysuit against Dell for 1) False advertisement 2) Violation of consumer antitrust and 3) Consumer Fraud as well as pain and suffering as I am a disabled veteran (major back issues) and stress not only raises my already high bloodpressure to unhealthy levels but causes me to have restlest nights due to back spasms due to the stress.
Maybe we sould all consider a class action lawsuit???

I'm calling today to see if I can't correct this issue.
feel free to email me [email protected]

By the way this is the last time I buy a DELL! .

I am highly disappointed with the entire Dell order process (including Dell Customer Care Support staff) and with Dell Financial Services. Back in December 2007, I purchased a new Dell XPS M1330 laptop. I would not have purchased the laptop if Dell was not promoting a $200 gift card. Due to this promotion I also elected not to have any Office preinstalled since I would purchase Office with the gift card. At the time of the purchase, I signed up for the Dell Preferred Account (DPA) and got approved on the spot. There was a promo for the DPA, no interest for 12 months. The M1330 order was complete and then was cancelled about 10 days later due to an issue with Dell Financial Services. I had to call Dell Financial Services and go through a verification process. After I verified with DFS, they could not reactivate the cancelled order. So Dell created a second order (duplicating the original order) which I believe when the second order was created the gift card promotion had ended (I don't have the gift card promo dates, does anyone know the promo dates?). The rep I spoke with confirmed that I would still receive the gift card 4-6 weeks after receiving the laptop. I received the laptop in January but no gift card. I have spent numerous calls and wasted time with Dell Customer Care telling me now the Gift Card Support ended 3/31/2008. I do not care that the support has ended. All I want is the gift card that I was told that I would receive. I deserve a gift card just from all the wasted time and robotic answers from Dell Customer Care reps, managers and corp office folks.

Has anyone else financed their laptops/desktops with Dell's credit card, Dell Preferred Account? Prior to reading all the posts on this board, I thought that I would have received the gift card if I had not financed the laptop through Dell's Preferred Account...I'm beginning to think twice on that. Any feedback on this would be wonderful.

I have a very similar situation. I ordered XPS1530 on 20th Dec 2007(last day for the $200 Gift promo) and then cancelled and reordered an XPS1330 on 21st DEC 2007, after getting a verbal assurance that I would receive the GC since my original(cancelled) order was ELIGIBLE for GC. Now they say I need to show proof that I was eligible for GC. I didnt pursue it further because all I had was a verbal assurance then and countless more verbal assurances later by various reps that I will soon receive my GC.
