    I wanna buy 2x512 RAM for my laptop
    but im not correctly sure about the specs on the ram.
    Is it DDR2 PC4200 or DDR2 PC4200 ECC RAM ?

    Is kingston or OCZ DDR2 PC4200 ram good for this laptop ?

    ecc simply means error checking memory. it runs a little slower (and by little, i mean, very very little) because of the extra overheard necessary for the error correction function.

    that said, you don't really need it for a notebook. you see it mostly in servers. this doesn't mean it won't work, it's just not necessary.

    they are the same chips in all other aspects; i.e., as long as you get pc2 4200 200 pin, you will be ok.

    In addition to what drumfu said, ECC is also more expensive...no point to getting it.

    OCZ makes good memory. Also, check out Patriot Memory - I have some in my laptop, works flawlessly! :D

    You'll be looking for PC4200 533MHz 200-pin DDR2 memory...that's what will work in your i9300. ;)

    I would suggest searching newegg.com because they were offering 1gb (1 stick) for around 100 bucks. The brands were Kingston or Transcend, both around the same price. There are several users including me who got our memory from there, and I haven't heard of any complaints.

    If it was u would u then buy? 2048 mb or just 1024?
    the laptop is used mostly for gaming and school work. But im playing alot of BF2 so I need more memory for that
