Here are my initial observations of the dell e1505:
Note: negative impressions are always the most glaring. Although I don’t have many positive comments at this point, I should mention that after unpacking the notebook I started charging it up with out use in an attempt to establish healthy battery life.

    Negatives:
    1) The casing of the monitor had a noticeable gap along its seem. After a pinch it seemed to click shut properly.
    2) After initially gawking at threads commenting on the white border design of the machine, I have to say I’ve switched camps. Even though I’m a bit of a geek and far from a graduate of a fashion institute, even I’m turning my nose up at the esthetics of this machine. A much cooler idea would be to replace the white border with a true mirror silver trim making for a nice contrast to the rest of the dulled silver.
I should however stress that while it’s not the Versace of stylish laptops it’s not unbearably remarkable and only a fool would consider it anything more than an afterthought for prospective buyers.
    3) The letters on the keys are either cheaply adhered or have some sort of protective glossy laminate that is almost sticker like.
    4) While at the time of purchase I was confident that a laptop 14 in wide with a 15.4 in screen would have an invitingly comfortable keyboard, I’ll now have to keep an eye on the ergonomics of this machine. Although happy with the travel and the immediate fingering real estate, it seems that while typing at least one of my hands must be angled in a peculiar way straining my wrist.

On a positive note I’m generally impressed with the solid feel of the cover and frame of the laptop.
I can’t stress enough that these impressions may not count for much of my eventual total experience. Don’t forget I haven’t even turned the darn thing on.

I suggest you do and test it out big time before your 21 day period is up. Don't wait like I did. This should be the first thing a new Dell lappie owner does...

    Congrats on your purchase!

Love to hear what you think after you've turned it on, but I enjoyed reading your review, as it stands so far.
