Insanely loud beeping noise

I have an M1210, with a 1.83 core duo, 1gb ram, 60gb 5400 rpm HD.

A few days ago I was playing a computer game when all of a sudden the most insanely loud beep comes out of my headphones, which were sitting on my desk. This noise was made EVEN THOUGH the computer was muted. During this 10-20 second beep, the screen freezes up, and I can't even move the mouse. This has happened at least once an hour for the past few days, only while playing a game.

Also, from the initial blast, the right ear part of my headphone is completely ruined. No sound comes out of it at all. Is there any way Dell will replace this? Whats wrong with my computer.

 

Sounds to me like warning beeps. Maybe your notebook is over heating or facing another kind of critical error. Check your temperatures using I8kfanGUI

 

That is really weird. What game are you playing? Does that one game only emit the beep? Being that the computer is muted, you would think system beep but that would only come from the computer itself and not through the headphones. From what I can guess, the computer wasn't actually muted and it came from the game. I'm not sure if it is possible for a program to override the volume controls.

 

well yeah, I'd say that its getting pretty warm and thats the PC beeping. as in its programmed in the BIOS to do that to warn you.


check to see what the GPU and CPU temperatures are after 40minutes of gaming.

Actually, I use 18kFanGui and NHC. I keep temperatures at about 50-60 celcius while gaming.

Its an MMORPG called Flyff. I had two game clients open, so I guess it was taxing on the processor, causing it to beep, and every part of the screen to freeze up for about 20 seconds. It definitely sounds like more of a system sound, and definitely did not originate from the game itself. Also, I went through and muted every possible option in the sound thing, but it still does it once in a while. And the game definitely didn't make this.

Here's a deeper explanation of the problem. I'll have 2 games open (playing my MMORPG with 2 characters). I'll be holding the W key to run, and turn with the A and D keys, like most games. All of a sudden, I continue running for a few seconds with the W key even when I let go of it, and I can't turn or do anything. Then EVERYTHING freezes up (cursor included) and the extremely loud beeeeeeeeeeeeeeep emits. Sometimes it stops, but a SINGLE movement of the cursor, mouse click, or button click makes it beep, only to stop when I stop moving/clicking. But other times its just a 10-20 second beep.

Then generally it stops, but the cursor lags. Moving my mouse from left to right will make the cursor sort of blip across the screen in 5 seconds or so. Then its back to normal, good game playing. Then it happens again later.

Does this beeping happen through the system speakers as well with the headphones unattached? Have you contacted the program support for that MMO? I just did a once-over of every installed windows sound, and there are no "beeps", nor are there anything that can be construed as beeps. I would highly suspect the sounds are somehow coming from the program client.

I would recommend running the system diagnostics. During bootup, when you see the initial Dell screen, hit F12 and boot to the diagnostics. Run through the pre-boot assessment, and then run the 32-bit diagnostics. If it comes up with any errors, post them here.

 

Odd question.

If it sounds like a BIOS beep, do you have any email clients running? Outlook has a habit on 1210's of using that to alert you of new emails. Could be a problem.
