    So I just got a new Insperion E1505 with the the Nvidia graphics card. It has one bug that is just erking me. I have the resolution set to max and I've set it so that closing the lid does nothing, however whenever I open the lid back up I've found that the resolution had been changed ti 800x600 so all my windows are suddenly are suddenly compact and its very annoying. Does anybody know the particular reason for this?

    Sorry, I don’t have an answer for your question; as far as I know, E1505 doesn’t come with nVidia graphics, it comes with onboard 950GMA or ATi X1300/1400.

    EDIT : There is a problem with the site’s product linking script. “E1505” sting inside a post links to the product page of XPS M170. At least it does for me right now (in both Firefox 2 and IE 7)

    Nojh, are you talking about a XPS M170?

    You can get the E1505 with the 7300...

    Oh.. I see…. My mistake.
    (even though I don’t see 7300 under “Select my video card” of “Build my dell” there is a 7300 driver listed in E1505 downloads :eek: )

    Are you using Dell's video card drivers or some third party drivers? Either way I'd reinstall the Dell drivers and see if that fixes the problem.

    The only safe drivers are ones from Dell's website. It seems like you have used some other drivers, and decided to not share that with us, but expecting to get help.

    Actually no. As far as I'm aware I used the Dell drivers when I did my last reformat. I may have used the wrong ones but I doubt it. I'll try reinstalling the drivers. Thank you night_2004.

    Well I reinstalled the driver to no avail. I also played around with the Nvidia Desktop Manager and NVidia Control Panel. No effect. I did find that having my laptop go to standby when I close the lid doesn't resize my laptop. However it cuts my internet is an issue. Is there anybody else out there who has an idea or is this just a bug of the 7300?

    I've been having the same issue with mine except I never bothered to fix it. Then last night I thought "enough is enough" and did the following. It absolutely worked and made my day.

    1. Open registry editor (Run->regedit)
    2. Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video registry key
    There are several subkeys composed of random hexadecimal numbers. Each of those subkeys have its own subkeys 0000 and 0001. Find the key corresponding to the nvidia card. This is the key whose 0000 and 0001 subkeys contain a lot of values (such as individual games settings etc)
    3. In 0000 subkey, find LidBehavior value. On my system, its default value is 11 (hexadecimal). Change it to 10 (hexadecimal)
    4. Reboot

    Thanks to lancorp for posting this awesome fix.

    Awesome. Worked perfectly. Thanks a lot Iron Eagle! I wonder how lancorp figured that out and why it works.
