Hi ,
I just bought my first notebook.
Everything seems to be OK , except there is considrable amount amount of hot air is coming out from the left edge of my notebook.
Since this is my first notebook i dont know how much heat is OK.
Can anybody help in this regard. may be a tool to measure the heat or something like that.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Can you quantify "considerable"?
What is your configuration?
Are you gaming when this happens?

Around the area of ventilation? Yes, my 1500 gets fairly hot there and on the bottom towards the back. Not a problem. Some even manage to get it hot enough that it gets uncomfortable on the lap.

No i dont play game, basically i do my work, lot of multitasking, movies etc.
I wish i could define how much heat, that's why i ask if there is any tool to analyze.
Krt,
yes its the ventilation area.ya its not comfortable on the lap if you hold it longer. -
Its normal...if you switch the power plan to power saver it should be considerably cooler.
-
Razor,
can you explain what is power plan?
Thanks

Run the machine in the "Balanced" mode all of the time. This way, the processor will run at ~800MHZ while idle, and then clock up when you need it. My 1.6GHZ T5470 runs at around 40C at this setting and puts out a very minimal amount of heat while web browsing and such. The T7500 might naturally run a bit warmer than that as it has a larger L2 cache, but it should still be comparable.
As far as tools to measure your temperature, Notebook Hardware Control (NHC) is nice. I use the special Dell version so it can control the hard drive acoustics too. -
If you use Vista its the power setting your notebook run on. In XP it was called power settings????
You can access it either on the mobility center or from the taskbar next to the clock.
