    Hi!
I recently reinstalled a friends Inspirion 6400, after installing XP i downloaded all the necessary drivers from dell.com.

Everything work fine except when I play music sound glitches every 3-5 seconds. I installed the SIGMATEL driver, dunno what sound-card he have. Have tried reinstalling driver twice but same problem occur.

Is it possible that he got the creative soundcard, can U install with wrong drivers?

Cant see any units conflicts so thats aint the problem

    Help!
    Thx in regards

I had this problem when using WinXP on this laptop. The only fix I found was to use the next to last WinXp sigmatel audio driver from Dell. This is the one without the stereo mix feature. The Creative "soundcard" you mentioned is just a software program that has some audio enhancements. The audio chip remains the same in either case.
