I have a question and looking for a answer.
I purchased a Inspirion 1520 about 4 years ago with complete care warranty.

I recently sent it in for repair and but it can't be repaired so Dell is giving me a Inspirion 15R as a replacement.

The only thing I would like is a Higher resolution display like my 1520 because I used the laptop mostly for photography but no other display is offered in the Inspirion model.
Do you think I should be happy with the 15R or try and get something like a XPS15 or is that asking for to much?
    Thanks

Ya I would not accept 15R as a replacement, see if you can get an XPS 15 with the 1080p B+RGLED screen.

I second this. While the 15R is obviously going to be faster with respect to CPU and GPU power, it is, in every other regard (build quality, features, etc) an inferior machine. Try to get a Latitude :D

That particular laptop is about as low budget as you can get. I would hold out for more with a better display. Explain what you use it for and what your expectations were with your original purchase.

    Thanks for the advice.
I was thinking the same think as to the build quality of the 15R but mostly the display resolution is my main concern.
When I purchased the 1520 the display resolution was very important to me for my photography needs the reason I upgraded to the 1680x1050 display.
Called Dell and talked to a CSR who was awesome understood my concerns and needs and is trying to put a system together for me.
    Calling me back next week.
If Dell comes through will restore my confidence and make me a Dell customer for life or at least untill I have another problem. :D

I would try to get the XPS 15 w/the 1080p screen. The Inspiron 15R is just an insult, the older Inspiron's are better in terms of build quality. I have a 1520, which I bought, just like you 4 years ago this December.
