I'm about to buy my first notebook and so far I've decided for Dell Inspiron with Duo Core processor. But I've got a question about screen resolution -- you can upgrade WXGA 15,4" LCD display to WSXGA. Do you think it's a good choice?

There is an integrated graphic card GMA 950, and 512mb of ddr2 RAM. I'll probably buy additional system memory, but that will happen as MS Vista is out. So my next question is: "Will GMA950 handle the WSXGA resolution?

I'll use it mainly for "office work", I'm a student...

    thanks ya'll

I think it'll be fine with it. They have the option for that option for the laptop before the dedicated graphics where avaliable, so that mean there's no problem.

I would recommend upgrading to the WSXGA+ screen, I love having all that screen real estate when I do graphics work.

For Windows Vista, many people are saying that its recommended to get a dedicated graphics card in order to take full advantage of vistas new features. You might want to spend the $40 or so extra dollars if you can to get the ATI X1300 video card.

If you're going to upgrade the graphics card dont go with the x1300, spend a little more money and get the x1400, a graphics card that has more memory and is a lot better than the x1300
