While waiting for my new laptop, I decided to sell my old laptops. I have two older dells, an Inspiron 1410 and 1000. The 1410 had a busted motherboard so I was deciding to sell the parts. This included the hard drive. Now when my laptop broke, there was data on the laptop and now that I am selling it, I would like to wipe it clean.

The Inspiron 1000 was been working, so I decided to switch the hard drives to see if it would work. The laptop may have been in hibernation when I took out the first hard drive and switched it and took out the ram, I didn't turn on. I plugging it in with the AC adapter and it didnt turn on as well. Scared, I put the original hard drive back the way it was and tried again with no luck.

    Why isn't it turning on?

EDIT: It just turned on, lol. I guess it needed a good charge and the outlet was faulty. Now does anyone know how I can erase that hard drive since the 1410 does not work? Can I switch the hard drives on the 1000?
