    Hi,

I have an inspiron 1000 whose BIOS password has been locked. I'm looking for the security chip. Does anyone know where/how I can find it?

Does anyone know how to short it?

Does anyone know how to circumvent the password lock?

    Thanks.

first off, the password is usually stored in the BIOS (not some separate chip, if you got that, your comp must be very secure).

so, try pulling the coin cell battery for a few minutes (if that doesn't work, pull it for maybe over night)
