So Dell's new Inspiron 11 3000 Series(3153) comes with a Skylake i3. Intel's site shows that this CPU can handle up to 32GB of RAM:

and that it can take DDR3 or DDR4. Would there be any reason this 16GB DDR3 SODIMM wouldn't work in this Inspiron?

I actually registered just to comment on this. I know I'm late to the party. The CPU may be capable of higher capacities and bandwidth, but the onboard chipset and FSB can only handle 8gb of RAM up to 1600mHz. I was hoping to make an upgrade myself, but mine was already maxed.

I did buy a 16GB DDR3 SODIMM for my 3153 and it sees the full capacity in the BIOS / UEFI AND in Windows. -
Well that was very crappy of Dell to lie to me. I asked their support staff. Mainly because I wanted to install 2133 mhz ram into mine. Thanks for the info
