I know nothing about computer hardware. I've read answers online that this model can't be upgraded with SSD because it uses eMMC. I checked on my system information and it says that the disk drive is a 500GB HDD. How do I know for sure that I can or can't install SSD in it without having to remove the case first?

There are two different models. One has eMMC usually has 64gb of storage. The other has a 500gb HDD. If your system info is showing 500gb of storage, You can easily swap in a SSD. I recommend the Kingston 400 series. I have that in my wifes 11 3000 2 in 1 and it made a huge difference to the machine. I used a 500gb kingston A400 SSD in 3 of my laptops now and they are great. There is no need to spend more. Also, have a look to see if the ram modules are removable. You can upgrade ram too and it will help in the speed department as well.
