Hey guys, ive already spent about 40 dollars getting a new adapter, which i just found out wasnt the reason for my dad's laptop not charging... the old adapter was slightly ripped, so my first thought was to purchase another..
how much would it cost to have a new DC Power Jack put in on the mobo?
considering i value the laptop at about $160, and i already spent 40.. do you think it will cost under 40 dollars? if it costs half the price of the laptop, my dad can just get a new one..
    thanks, David

... and replacing the DC jack may not fix the problem at all. It may be an issue with the power circuitry on the motherboard. You can buy a tested working Inspiron 1100 motherboard for about $50 on eBay (I bet replacing the jack will cost more if you get a shop to do it); that should pretty much guarantee a fix as long as you install it properly. You decide if that's worthwhile for you, though.
