I have Googled this and found many out there have issue such as mine; but could someone tell me what it might mean if when I have the ac adapter plugged into the laptop, I get a green led pwr button in front but an yellow led light for the battery? This occurs whether the battery pack is in or out. Has anyone found if the battery is not good, then the ac power won't work?

I am not sure as to the answer, but I am experiencing the same problem. My Inspiron 1100 will not power on with A/C and/or battery power. I believe that the battery is bad, as it is the original battery that came with the laptop (4 years old). However, I cannot be sure. I have tried to boot the laptop several ways: (1) with the battery and power cord plugged in, (2) with the power cord and NO battery, (3) with the battery only. None of these have worked. When I have the battery and the power cord in the laptop, and press the power button, the laptop does not boot, the screens stays off, the fan does not run, etc. The only thing that happens is that the amber/orange light that indicates the battery flashes nine times. This is what makes me suspect it is the battery, but I find it odd that the laptop will not run off of A/C power. If you find the solution to this problem would you please post it in this forum. Thanks.
