    Hi all

I hope you can help as I'm in a bit of a bind and desparately needing my laptop up and running (final prep for sompe certification exams).

I have a Dell latitute 1100 that I have recently reconditioned (i.e. cut off the U1 magnetic sensor as well reported for this model) and cleaned out fan, reapplied thermal compound etc, and generally worked over and got fully functional again.

The problem is that the laptop will only switch on if it is attached to the power. The battery appears fine as I can disconnect the power the moment the lights flash and eveything is fine, but if not attached then it does a very good doorstop impression (no lights or anything).

As the main reason for reconditioning it was to revise for exams on the train (and not fancy new ones with plugs unfortunately) its basically useless to me.

Could anyone let me know what I may have knocked, or what could be tried to get it back to full operation again I would be eternally grateful, as I have 0 budget to take it to a specialist or suchlike.

Many thanks in advance for your help

    Mark

Sorry I can't help more, but it sounds like the battery or the contacts to the battery might have been bumped. I'm not that familiar with the innards of laptops, but maybe you could check for some damage near the battery compartment?

Also was the battery working before the "reconditioning"?
