I have had my 1150 for quite a while, and it has done its job rather well during our time together. Unfortunately, a few days ago I accidentally tripped over the power cable and dragged my poor laptop of the desk onto the floor. Fortunately, I guess, the only thing that was damaged was the lcd monitor.

The screen is completely useless right now, and the only way to use the laptop is to hook it up to an external monitor. So preety much it isn't a laptop any more.

I was wondering if anyone knew a good place to get LCD replacements and if it is actually worth replacing it or if I should just give up on it and get a new laptop?
Does dell sell parts for laptops directly?

All I would need is the screen since I can replace it myself.

    Thanks for your help.

    Check eBay for parts. ~50-100USD

You could purchase a netbook for ~200USD. It's your choice.

That's a 4 or 5 year old laptop. I personally wouldn't put time or money into something that old. Time for a new one.

    Cheapest BIN on eBay:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Dell-1150-1100-14-1-XGA-LCD-Screen-QD14XL07-TESTED_W0QQitemZ290302478246QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item290302478246&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2|65%3A15|39%3A1|240%3A1318

If it was a $100 part, I'd third Namaiki and Swarmer in saying that you should buy a new notebook. Especially since the 1150 only takes NetBurst-based processors, which are, quite frankly, junk. But at $57, it's not so clear cut; it might be worthwhile to squeeze more life out of your 1150.

Hmm 57$ isn't really too bad... so I'll probably do that and get a few more months out of my laptop before I decide on which new one to get.

Thanks for all the help guys.
