Hey my Inspiron 1520 has the nVidia 6800m GT 256mb which only has a VGA output. I v.recently bought the Dell s2409w screen which has a native res of 1920x1080. Is that res supported by my card and does will there be any problems with the connection/picture.

p.s. I also intend to use it for PS3 gaming hence the 16:9

    Thanks for reading!

The card's output will support up to 2560x1600, which is the highest resolution you'll find anywhere. It shouldn't have any problems connecting, and the quality should be just fine. The only issue you might have is with gaming frame rates, because 1920x1080 is a pretty demanding resolution for a graphics card that old.

Actually, I may just be retarded. I was thinking DVI. >_<

Anyway, if I recall, VGA should still support up to 1920x1200.

Thanks man, ordered the screen so it should be here tomorrow or something. I kinda wish I had DVI but is the difference really that noticable? Like Day and Night or is it more like a light shower and proper rain?

I know 1920x1080 would be stretching it for games but thats where the PS3 comes in. How about for videos? I have a few 720p vids but my laptop needs to be almost 'perfect' conditions to actually run it smoothly.

I've never noticed a difference, really. I suppose there are technical things like how many milliseconds you shave off on your response time, or something like that, but it's really not that big of a deal.

As for smoothness of videos, I think that has more to do with your computer than the DVI or VGA interface itself.
