    Hi guys,

I bought my Dell Inspiron 700m 3 1/2 years ago for college and its been running great, I love the machine so much! The size is perfect, I usually take my notebook to class, work, and various other places throughout campus, so I have it with me most of the day. As a result, a small notebook is very helpful.

Anyways, I was looking around Dell's website and reading various websites looking which Dell model to buy next. My older brother purchased a Studio 15 not too long ago. It's a nice machine, however, too big for my tastes.

I ordered an Inspiron 13 yesterday from Dell, and I would just like feedback on what people think. I ordered the following specs for 696USD...

    Intel Core 2 Duo T8100, 2.1GHz, 800MHz FSB
    4GB of RAM
    250GB 5400RPM
    128MB Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS
    1 Year warranty

and the standard stuff: webcam, DVD burner, 802.11g

The price seemed right, I will be using it for the same stuff I use my 700m for: graphic design: Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. It seems like performance will be adequate. The price was a big thing for me, 700 - 800 dollars was around what I wanted to spend and was about how much I paid for my 700m back in the day. When I'm at my desk I plug the notebook into a 20" Dell widescreen LCD

    Thoughts?

    Thanks.

That's a very good price for the specs you got. That will be a very nice notebook for you. Did you look at the XPS M1330 before you purchased?

My ESD is the 15; looking forward to that. Good to know, there isn't too much conversation on this forum (as of late) on the I13 and it made me wonder about it.

I did look at the XPS m1330, and it's very cool, I like it a lot, and the fact that it is also slimmer, but I couldn't get the price I was looking for and couldn't justify the price difference, even though I am sure the case difference would be nice.

I really hope I like this machine, my 700m is so nice and small, fast and still runs amazing today.

That's awesome ~ next week.. :D Though I bet it shall ship sooner! Dell almost always, over projects the ESD (for delays, back orders), etc.

I agree, haven't seen much on the I13..who knows maybe with your post, we shall! ;) I hope you like your new lappy also!

Very nice deal on an excellent machine.

There's never been a lot of buzz about this computer. I've never really understood why. It's really the only, truly, affordable 13 incher out there. Usually, you'd have to drop at least a G on a machine this size.

I can tell you, I love mine. It's really one of the best computers I've ever owned. It's super fast, and mine was dirt cheap. Combine this with the size, and it really doesn't get much better. I really can't say enough good things about the I13.

Look at it this way, at least there aren't a bunch of threads dedicated to problems with the system. I can honestly say I've had no issues, at all, with my I13. It's been a no maintenance notebook.

Do the problems that exist with the m1330 with the GPU exist with the I13 with the 8400m? What's that all about, I've read a lot of happy customers with the m1330 with the GPU on this forum.
